Flitch holds a special place in my heart. Five or six years ago, Erica opened a tiny coffee trailer, working her butt off six days a week to serve excellent coffee in the parking lot of the warehouse where her husband made furniture from reclaimed materials. It was hipster af, and I could walk there in four minutes. Then she started winning awards for her coffee. Then she started getting enough business to hire staff and take days off. I've watched this place blossom into the popular, award-winning destination it is today, complete with outdoor setup and a taco truck.

Everything on the menu is good, but you probably want the yucca fries. Also watch out for the margaritas. They are not small.

Local shop

Not your average convenience store! They blend the chips and soda staples you'd expect from a corner store with a respectable craft beer selection, lots of gluten free/dairy free food options, and plenty of local Austin flavors. Oh, and there's a kitchen in the back that will serve you tacos or Greek food.

Your local grocery store. We Texans have a strong love for HEB. Their homebrand items are top quality, each store has special items popular in it's location, and they take care of their staff and local communities.

Lustre Pearl was one of the OG bars on Rainey Street back when it that district was just taking off. Long story short, they served a lady too much, she got in her car and did some bad things, and Lustre Pearl was held accountable and had to choose between paying a huge fine or losing their liquor license for two years. They chose the latter, and in their two years off they decided to pick up the house from super expensive Rainey Street and they move it two miles east, to the block it sits on today. Seriously, they picked up the literal building and moved it. Crazy. Anyway, after two years they reopened in East Austin and you can walk there and hang out in the original Rainey Street house. It's pretty neat.
