Food scene

I loved the Betty McDonald book The Egg and I (set between Chimicum and Quilcene) so especially enjoy the pun on the name. The little bar is very neighborhood oriented, great and large collection of beers and a simple, pleasant place to stop in for a beer.

This business does a lot to help homeless people which is a good reason to patronize them. The food is just fine and the setting is lovely.

When you go to The In Between think about the 1999 movie "Being John Malkovich" If you love the movie as much as we do, you'll like this bar and more good news: they make a great cocktail and their bar menu is interesting. I feel like I'm in a movie when I'm there.

Everyone goes to Sirens. It's big, noisy, has a terrific deck overlooking the water and feels so Port Townsend. The food is fine and beverages plentiful.

Neighborhoods

In the country 25 miles isn't far and neither is Port Townsend. Beautiful, preserved Victorian architecture, a thriving art scene (in part thanks to the activities at Fort Worden), a terrific movie theater (The Rose) and good restaurants.

The small town of Chimicum serves as the epicenter of a thriving organic farming movement. You can hit Finn River, The Keg and I and make a quick stop at The Chimicum Corner Farmstead for organic essentials and ice cream.

This terrific used bookstore will take you back to the days when every neighborhood had an independent new bookstore and a used bookstore. This one is carefully curated which is no surprise since they've been around for 30 years. They know what they are doing in the world of books.

Check this place out in the late spring and summer, especially in the spring when the rhodedendrons are out. The gardens cover seven acres with trails and since the place opened in 1955, some of those plants are BIG.
