Cambridge is the home to a couple of schools you may have heard of. Harvard and MIT...ring a bell? Cambridge boasts having an urban intellectual vibe (Thanks to those little schools I mentioned before). There are a slew of Restaurants, bars, and cafe's lining the streets, while parks and jogging paths wind along the Charles river. If you want a leisurely day exploring incredible architecture, walking down the winding path of the Charles, or gorging yourself on delicious food, then Cambridge is the place to be....don't forget to take a glimpse of the North End from across the river. In my opinion it is the best view of Boston

Well since you are staying here its pretty hard to miss, but luckily there is so much to explore in South Boston. South Boston is a up and coming city with a dirty past (i.e Whitey Bulger). Broadway is the main drag of Southie where you will find bars, restaurants and boutiques. Make your way down Broadway and you will find the beach. Enjoy watching windsurfers along Pleasure Bay, walk along Castle Island, or enjoy some sun on Carson beach. For a more historical side of Southie take a stroll up Telegraph Hill (I am being poetic when I say stroll...its a big freaking hill, but worth it for the views). LOCAL TIP: The best Pizza in Southie is Red Line Pizza right next to Andrew Station (yes, it looks sketchy..part of its charm). Order the Buffalo Chicken Ranch pizza...You're Welcome.

Rich, Sophisticated, home of the most photographed street in America. Beacon Hill is a collection of incredible architecture, amazing shopping, and direct access to Boston Commons. Take a walk through the winding cobblestone streets, Take a photo on Acorn Street, then make your way down Charles Street to enjoy the ambiance and cafe's. I highly recommend a stop at J.P Licks, a Boston based Ice Cream shop with amazing Cookie Sandwiches.

Stretching the length of Boylston Street, from Mass Ave to Arlington Street, the Back Bay is Boston's epicenter for shopping, sleeping, dining, and drinking. Stop by the Prudential Center for some indoor shopping, walk along Boyleston street to see beautiful Gothic Churches, and in the winter PLEASE make your way to L.A Burdick for the best Hot Chocolate in the city.

Take a stroll through Boston's own Little Italy. You will make your way to this neighborhood while on the freedom trail, but I highly suggest taking your time to explore this vibrant and historical part of Boston. Some of the best food can be found in this part of the city, and the neighborhood itself is nothing short of picturesque . Places to eat: $$$ Mama Maria's- right next to Paul Reveres house, it is a quaint (and tiny) restaurant with the BEST Lobster Ravioli I have ever experienced. $$ Carmelina's - Amazing Pasta dishes and incredibly popular with the locals. If you are looking for a home style Italian meal then this is your place. $ Regina Pizzeria- I hate to admit when a ridiculously popular tourist destination is worth it...but this one is. The pizza is spectacular and worth the trip. Don't forget the Dessert! If you walk around you will see the classic white and blue box from Mike's Pastry, although the desserts are amazing its not worth the huge line that tends to collect there. I suggest walking right down the street to Modern Pastry. The desserts are just as divine, without the wait!

Whether you are a Red Sox fan or not, experiencing Fenway is a must. If you had the opportunity go see a game. The atmosphere, fans, and food bring out the best in Fenway. If you cant catch a game, then go take a tour. Seeing the Green Monster in person is worth every penny.

If you have a love for American History...or if you have always wanted to throw a box of tea into a river and yell "Haa Zaa", then this is the place for you. Tour guides dressed in their best period clothing take you through the night of the famed "Boston tea Party". After taking in all the rich history make your way up to Abigail's Tea Room and have a scone and some tea. Its a great way to spend an afternoon on the Channel.

Right next to Boston Common lives the Public Gardens. Beautifully landscaped and well manicured, the gardens attract locals and visitors all year round. Stop by the "Make way for ducklings" statue and take a ride on the swan boats. Make sure to see the Washington statue before you head on your way. Its a beautiful way to spend the morning in Boston.

Places to take the kids

The Boston Childrens Museum is three floors of awesome. I spend hours there every week with my sons, and we still never tire of it. Not only is the museum filled with amazing things for kids, but it is also located right on the water, and right next to Tea Party Museum. Its a great place to tire out your kids and then continue exploring the history of Boston.

If you are looking for a place to entertain your kids look no further than the New England Aquarium. It has Fish, it has Penguins, and most of all it has a large spiral ramp from the first floor all the way to the fifth that your kiddos can run up and down until all their energy is expended and they can no longer protest seeing an old historical church.

If you need a day out of the city and a place for the kiddos, make your way to the Franklin Park Zoo. There is plenty of free parking, and the zoo itself is great! Not only does this zoo have multiple play spaces (slides, climbing structures etc.) but there is also a 10,000 sq ft. Playground in the zoo for a break and some lunch. Its a great way to give the kids a break from the regular Boston attractions.

Do you like Ice Cream? How about Cookies? yeah, of course you do...so go to Cookie Monstah. They serve up massive homemade ice cream sandwiches, aka “Monstah Sandwiches.” Take your pick between Peanut Buttah Cup, The Buttahscotch, The Cinnabomb, and fan favorite The Classic, serving up two chocolate chunk cookies stuffed with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. WHERE TO FIND: Every day at Boston Common and Greenway Carousel, Wednesdays and Fridays at Dewey Square Plaza, and Thursdays at Boston Public Library

Nestled in the middle of Chinatown in a tiny restaurant lives the best dumplings I have ever had. Here is the deal. If you want authentic Chinese Dumplings, and you want them to be amazing then go to Gourmet Dumpling House. There is always a line, but it is worth the wait. It is the place to go, and every local knows it is the best.

Consejos sobre la ciudad

Qué meter en la valija

Clothing you should pack

-Good walking shoes (This is a walking city) -A wind breaker..let me repeat a WINDBREAKER (even in 60 degree weather the wind off the ocean is a killer) -A backpack for carrying water and snacks. There are a lot of food trucks (see food truck guide for suggestions) and stores, but you will get gouged on prices anywhere touristy. -Any Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and or Red Sox gear is welcome here. This is a sports town and we wear it with pride...don't rep the Yankees...don't be that guy.

Trains have space for Strollers

Some stations have their elevators shut down for renovation. Listen to announcements on the train, they will warn you which stations have closed elevators.
