The Tunnel of Eupalinos is a tunnel of 1,036 m length in built in the 6th century BC to serve as an aqueduct. The tunnel is the second known tunnel in history which was excavated from both ends, and the first with a geometry-based approach in doing so.

The Heraion of Samos was a large sanctuary to the goddess Hera, in the southern region of Samos, Greece, 6 km southwest of the ancient city, in a low, marshy river basin near the sea. The Late Archaic Heraion of Samos was the first of the gigantic free-standing Ionic temples, but its predecessors at this site reached back to the Geometric Period of the 8th century BC, or earlier. The site of temple's ruins, with its sole standing column, was designated a joint UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the nearby Pythagoreion in 1992.

Beautiful little village with narrow alleys by the sea, Kokkari's Long Beach attracts windsurfers from all over Europe. Definitely worth a visit. Note the beach produces high surf when the northern wind prevails.

Great hiking conditions in the cool shade, perfect for a hot day, with a pristine fresh water stream to take a cool dip, and a very good and inexpensive taverna at the end of an adventurous climb up makeshift wooden staircase.

One of my favorite spots, Kedros Beach has a really cool hippy bar right on the beach run by a kite-surfer called Zen, good music, relaxed atmosphere and very inexpensive. Beach produces moderate to high surf when the Northern wind prevails.

Well organized and beautiful little beach, a mix of pebble and sand, and a well run establishment by Gianni, the owner of the beach bar. Frequent beach parties with great music, and reasonably priced as well, in fact beach beds are free. Moderately susceptible to surf when the western wind prevails.

Essentials
Everything you need at the best prices on the island, hands down. It's not in town, but on the main road Samos-Pythagoreio, so you'll need a car to access it. If you don't have a car, don't worry, try Bazaar on the Main Coastal Road, it's walking distance and the prices are almost as good, although selection is much more limited.

Not exactly a restaurant, the less expensive taverna is the preferred eating establishment in Greece. You'll be eating alongside the locals here, and you'll be happily surprised when you get the check. If you like traditional Greek food, "Triantafyllos" is the place to have it. It's out of town so you'll need a scooter or a car to get there.
