When the weather is nice, eating on the dock is so so so nice. Cadillac Margaritas are a must. Recommend going for lunch if eating outside. Wind picks up in the evenings sometimes.

Hello! It's an awesome National Park. This is a "there and back park," which means most trails are not loops. From staircase the rapids loop is a great "everyone" trail. Most trails are steep in this area and not for the faint of heart, but the views are so so so worth the work. Just pack a lunch and take your time. You will make it.

Hello! It's an awesome National Park. This is a "there and back park," which means most trails are not loops. From staircase the rapids loop is a great "everyone" trail. Services: Hoodsport is a small but convenient town. All restaurants, gas, groceries can be found at the stores in town center. From town to the National Park there are no services other than The Lake Store (mini-mart) and coffee stand at around mile maker 3. Any other services will be up and down Hwy 101 and are spotty.
Cell service: once off of Hwy 101 cell service is spotty at best. Lookout at around mile maker 7 on Hwy 119 sometimes will get extended service.
Safety: Hoodsport is wonderful and is all about enjoying nature. Keep in mind we have everything from steep mountains to deep lakes. We have a great EMS service but it is a long way to some places so staying in you experience level is recommended.
Delivery of food or uber are not services we know of out here so be prepared in case of adverse weather. We will get you out but not till the storm breaks. Enjoy the beauty and quiet that comes with good storms out here.

What to wear.
Always have a rain coat, rain pants, waterproof boots. Dress in layers. September-June temperatures and weather can change almost hourly. July-August still be prepared for summer thunderstorms.

The storybook trail
If coming with a child then checkout the storybook trail on the Hoodsport trail. It is on the north side of north lake Cushman road about 4 miles up from town.

Kokanee boat launch
Hwy 119 to lower lake road across from The Lake store. Take all the way till looks like it ends…follow to the right down the hill and first gravel parking area with portable toilet is the boat launch. Gravel area across street by hatchery is extra parking.
