You will walk a trail through a mix of open meadows where you can spot wildflowers during the spring and summer as well as deciduous forest. After six miles you will come to a bald with 365 degree views.

Craggy Gardens is a very beautiful (but often crowded) hike off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is a short hike so easily done with children.

Bent Creek Recreational Forest is a multi-use trail system for hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers. The trails are part of the Pisgah Forest and are endless. I spend much of my spare time at Bent Creek running and biking. If you have questions about specific trails just ask.

Be sure to check out DuPont Recreational Forest located South of Asheville towards Brevard. DuPont is one of my favorite places to spend the day. With five mountain lakes, 6 waterfalls and a scenic covered bridge, DuPont State Forest is a beautiful place to spend a day outside. The highlights are 4 major waterfalls, 2 of which were featured in the Hunger Games movie. After a day in the forest stop by The Hub for a draft beer and food truck.
