Welcome to Ossining. Here are a few ideas for food and places to visit!
This area is home to the newly landscaped Ossining Waterfront, where you can go for a walk, watch the sunset and grab something to eat or drink from 3 Westerly Bar & Grill. There are free Friday night concerts during the summer. The Hudson River is three miles wide here!

Just want to go for a relaxing walk close to our studio? Check out Nelson Park, just a few blocks away. There's a track for walking and jogging, and you should see several informal soccer games being played on the grass.

Drop by and join us for great coffee, art, conversation, and good company." Our son loves this place - I had never heard of oat milk! Closes at 6pm, and 4 pm on Sundays.

Aside from the grocery store, it also has Capri Pizza & Pasta (which I'm told also has good burgers), Subway, Starbucks, McDonalds and Old Country Wine & Liquor. Just across the street is a CVS, and the Landmark Diner.

If you like Turkish food, or are looking for something vegetarian or vegan, check this out. Half a mile from our home on Main Street. We've been there a few times and enjoy the relaxed middle eastern music and vibe + the food is good!

Kykuit is a fascinating trip into the past if you're interested in the history of the Rockerfellers. Check out the website for different tour options. Shuttle bus to the estate leaves from Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow, 5 miles from our home. Check out the Historic Hudson website for other places of interest.

This is a beautiful, free of charge, walk around a park that housed a Rockefeller family mansion. There's a small parking lot, or you can park on the side of the road. Follow the trail high above the Hudson, past the site of the mansion that burned down. When you come to a fork, you can either turn left for a shorter path down to the river, looping back, or keep going. Before you get to the end, you'll see a path heading down, along a woodland stream that leads you back down to the Hudson, joining the loop back. One of Dale and my favorite walks!

Rockwood Hall
Phelps WayThis is a beautiful, free of charge, walk around a park that housed a Rockefeller family mansion. There's a small parking lot, or you can park on the side of the road. Follow the trail high above the Hudson, past the site of the mansion that burned down. When you come to a fork, you can either turn left for a shorter path down to the river, looping back, or keep going. Before you get to the end, you'll see a path heading down, along a woodland stream that leads you back down to the Hudson, joining the loop back. One of Dale and my favorite walks!
Teatown Lake Reservation is 1,000 nature preserve and education center. Dale and I enjoy walking around the lake (some rocks and roots, and takes around 40 minutes). It's peaceful and there's all kinds of wildlife. They also rehabilitate injured animals and birds and you can visit these, also. There are also indoor exhibits and a gift shop, but getting out into the countryside is the reason we go! Small parking fee - well worth it!

It's peaceful and there's all kinds of wildlife. They also rehabilitate injured animals and birds and you can visit these, also. There are also indoor exhibits and a gift shop, but getting out into the countryside is the reason we go! Small parking fee - well worth it!
A free bicycle, walking, jogging path along the Hudson River in Croton on Hudson, past the Marina. Nicely landscaped, and at river level, with places to sit and relax. The path ends at a monument to those lost on 9/11, with an actual beam from the building. Open to the elements, so not great on a super hot or windy day, but otherwise pretty good. Lots of cute dogs on leashes. Capriccio 2 has great pizza and Italian dishes a couple of blocks away if you're hungry afterwards.

Popular State Park for picnicking , hiking up the mountain or around the lake. Has boating, a carousel, swimming pool, and a small zoo with local wildlife. You can also drive up the mountain for spectacular views! A 30 minute drive north, along the river and over the picturesque Bear Mountain Bridge. Go early, as it can get crowded on weekends and public holidays.

Popular State Park for picnicking , hiking up the mountain or around the lake. Has boating, a carousel, swimming pool, and a small zoo with local wildlife. You can also drive up the mountain for spectacular views! A 30 minute drive north, along the river and over the picturesque Bear Mountain Bridge. Go early, as it can get crowded on weekends and public holidays.
