Getting Around
Knock International Airport is only 50 minutes from Westport and car rental is available here. Also Westport is the start of the spectular 42km long Greenway to Achill Island. There are several bike hire companies in Westport offering transport to destinations along the way of the greenway

Taking the coast road to Louisburgh offers amazing views. One takes in Croagh Patrick on route. There is a very informative centre at the foot of Croagh Patrick for those not inclined for the long hike. Beyond Louisburgh one can take a ferry from Roonagh Pier to Clare Island, or take a walk on the Silver Strand in Thallabawn. It is a massive stretch of sandy beach taking you right to the edge of the Atlantic Ocean
