This restaurant is located right on the James river! The food is well executed southern cuisine. Obviously, the seafood is the way to go, but they do offer a wide selection of other foods for the non-seafood humans in your life. The wait staff and owners are all incredibly nice, and this is a good place for families or groups.

This award winning restaurant has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, and it is best known for it's ham biscuits and peanut pie. Although, it is a bit touristy, it is definitely worth stopping in.

This restaurant is located in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg and features fine french fair. They offer a very wide selection of wines and craft beers, but they also have a full bar. The staff and ambiance are noteworthy.

This is where you go to get excellent bread in this part of Virginia. It is a small bakery located in the VCU fan district. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you go in, you will get it!

This state park is unique in a few ways. They have several long stretches of beach, historic houses, farming and animals, and they host one of the largest fairs in the state, the Pork, Pine and Peanut festival. It's the perfect place for a picnic lunch or a long hike. Right by the manor house is a lovely garden to check out too!

A Steampunked Life may be one of the only brick and mortar steampunk stores on the East Coast. The awesome shop owners make almost all of the wares themselves. Even if this is not your thing, it is definitely worth stopping in and checking out their life-sized figurines and home decor.

Many of the items can also only be found here, including a pair of John Fluevog shoes that I fell in love with and walked away from. If you find yourself in Richmond, CHECK OUT THIS STORE!

Essentials
Although, this is technically a convenient store, it has a wide craft beer and wine selection. They also carry all of the essentials that a grocery store does as well as local produce (when in season) and other locally made products. Not to mention, it is also very easy walking distance from my house.

Getting Around
If you have never been on a fairy ride where you don't have to leave your car, then this is an experience! It's one of the routes you can use to get to Williamsburg, but it is so much more than that. If you know what to look for, you will see a wide variety of historic homes and locations on this ride. Occasionally bald eagle and hawk sighting occur. Children and children at heart love this ferry ride.

Their downstairs gallery changes a few times a year, and has hosted artwork from Kahinde Wiley, Rodin, Andy Warhol, Picasso, and many more.

Bacon's Castle, also variously known as "Allen's Brick House" or the "Arthur Allen House" is located in Surry County, Virginia, United States, and is Virginia's oldest documented brick dwelling. It is located on a 300 acre farm about ten minutes from Surry. The tours are extremely interesting. This is definitely something worth checking out while in Surry.
