Food Scene

This is a lovely place to visit. The staff are friendly, the view is great, the food fantastic. It's about 1km from Port Chalmers, a nice place to go for a walk and stop in for a refreshment. Or, if you're out for more of a short drive, you could stop in and have a look on the way to Aramoana where there are beautiful beaches and short walks and wonderful views.

The Galley is a licensed cafe/bar/restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful. They make great coffee and have a good selection of pizzas on their menu. Most Friday nights, The Galley will have live music in the back bar area beyond the courtyard, many of the entertainers are talented local bands.

Shopping

Every Saturday morning, the Farmers Market is the place to go for fresh local foodstuffs. There are food trucks there, selling a variety of foods: crepes, bacon butties, cheeses, vegan food, sweets, preserves, pies, breads, and so on. Buskers are always there to add entertainment for the crowd. A great chance to get some organic fruit & veg and have a stroll around the iconic Dunedin Railway Station while you're there.

Sightseeing

Great beaches. You can usually see sea lions lazing about on the rocks along the Mole and, on rare occasions, you might see a NZ fur seal. From the Mole, you can look across to Tairoa Head and, if you like getting up early enough, you could go there on good mornings for the beautiful sunrise. The drive to Aramoana from Port Chalmers is sometimes narrow and windy (as in, lots of bends), a beautiful drive nonetheless.
