The largest occupied castle in the world. It has been home to the British Monarchy for over 900 years. It is Her Majesty The Queen's favourite residence. See the State Apartments, Queen Mary dolls' house, Norman and Tudor architecture, suits of armour, priceless works of art in the Royal collection. They also have changing exhibitions there. The current one is Shakespeare and the Royal library. They have children's events and group tours. Check the website for details. Entry is quite expensive, so a free thing to do is to watch the beginning of the changing of the guard, as they march from nearby Victoria barracks to the castle, with a regimental band in full regalia. It happens at 10.45am on most days, at the top of the High Street near the castle entrance and then continued further inside the castle.

The main airport for London. Airlines fly all over the world from this location. It is 7 and a half miles away from Windsor. Don't forget to check which terminal you are going to, it has five! To drive, the very quickest journey time, with no traffic, is 15 minutes. I would advise that you calculate at least half an hour with light traffic and even more than that during rush hour to ensure that you catch your flight. Buses from Windsor to Heathrow depart every half an hour and take between 1 hour - 1 hour and a quarter.

A world famous golf club and destination for all golf lovers. They often have tournaments for the public to watch. Unfortunately, it's hard to play there as you have to be a member or know one. However, it has a public thoroughfare in most areas of the course. Take a wonderful walk in nature. It's free. Go past the main entrance and continue on to the end of Ridgemount Road until you come to the course. Do beware of the right of way of games played on the course and be quiet around the greens. Stop off at the halfway hut on the ninth green and have a cup of tea and their popular sausage sandwiches and other snacks. Go round to the caddies entrance, as the front is for the players. It's a great place to take a dog for a walk, and the members don't mind a well behaved dog on a leash.
