The old fortifications of Christianshavn is a great local place for a walk. Turn left on Torvegade and you end up at the Inner Harbour. Turn right and you pass through the former informal settlement of Christiania (now "normalized") and end up at the old naval base Holmen.

This massive park extends some 10 km to the south from here. lots of running and bike trails. There are even shelters and sites for sleeping under the stars should you be so inclined.

Technically not a beach but the Copenhagen Harbour is so clean it is perfect for jumping into on hot summerdays (and cold winters as well since there is an avid winter swimmer community there) The harbour bath offers a controlled environment for kids and less proficient swimmers, however the harbour is swimmable everywhere. On hot days the park tends to become more crowded than a Cote d'Azur beach. If so just venture south along the habour until you find a quieter stretch.
