Húsdýragarðurinn (Farmyard animal zoo)is situated in the Laugardalur recreational area. Ii is quite famous for its variety of Icelandic farm animals, as well as for the wild species native to Iceland. The family park tries to give children the opportunity not only to see things, but also to touch them and experience how they are used. The park offers various activities, such as cable rides, electric cars, rough-terrain vehicles, funny bikes, mini-golf, remote controlled boats and cars, diggers etc. There is a sandpit in the park, a viewing tower and a specially-designed playground for the youngest ones. One of the park's most important themes is formed by the reconstruction of the Viking era and other important times in Icelandic history.
