In “Rua Cândido dos Reis” - Pedestrian Road parallel to “Carvalho Freirinha” (our road). On this Road there is much of the night life and restaurants in the area. On the top of the road there are more bars and pubs and during the road you have many restaurants and cousines to choose for. If you are looking to: • eat fish, like “sardinhas” (sardines) or Bacalhau (Cod-Fish) then we recommend “A Toca” (+351 21 276 4459) on Rua CÂndido dos Reis • eat “Choco Frito” (Fried Squid) we recommend “Vale do Rio” right at the end of “Carvalho Freirinha”, arriving to the Terminal Square. Sea Food Restaurants: • “Farol de Cacilhas” has a simple but good offer. Is at the beginning of “Rua do Gingal”, just at the boat terminal exit. • “Cabrinha” it’s a more extensive offer of sea food and a little more expensive than the Farol

Places to Visit in Almada: Almada has also nice places to visit, and specially you can get extraordinary views from the South Bank of Tajo River to Lisbon (on the north bank). • Cais to Ginjal – is the sidewalk the starts at the “Cacilhas Terminal” and restaurant “Farol”, and goes parallel to the River. It’s an old port and industry that for long have been abandoned. There are projects to transform the area but…not yet. It looks abandoned but it is full of life with fisherman and people walking. Even during the night, it is safe. Almost at the end of the sidewalk there are two restaurants “Ponto Final” and “Atira-te ao Rio” (check “where to eat”) and at the end there is a small garden with the Panoramic Elevator of Boca do Vento that takes you to the top the “Almada Velha” (Old Almada). • Panoramic Elevator of Boca do Vento – takes you from “Olho de Boi” Gardens at the end of “Cais do Gingal” to “Almada Velha” (Old Almada). Check on internet for schedules before deciding to go. • Almada Velha – you can walk on “Almada Velha” a have very good views to Lisbon from the Almada Castle, as well as from “Casa da Cerca” – Almada’s contemporary art museum. • Casa da Cerca – Almada’s contemporary art museum. It has also a nice garden and views to Lisbon. • Sanctuary Cristo Rei – very nice and free view from below the sanctuary to Lisbon and if you want to pay, you can take the lift to the top and have a bird-eye view on Lisbon and Lisbon bridge (Ponte 25 de Abril)

Enjoying the beach at “Costa da Caparica” Costa da Caparica, are the best beaches near Lisbon, it is located on a natural park, however during the 60’ and 70’ there was a growing number of illegal construction on the park, which now can’t be removed, but also can’t be improved, so there is a legal impasse and the area lost much of its pretty on the access to the beach. Nevertheless, once you are the beach, it’s great. If you are traveling: • By Bus – The bus leaves you at a terminal station 5 mnts walking to the beach. Once arriving to the beach you can stay at any of the available beaches. You also may walk on the beach side walk “Paredão”. Where you can also enjoy many of the restaurants and bars, with sea view. • By Car – You can go directly to one of the several beaches. On beach “Praia de S. João” or “Praia da Rainha” or Costa da Caparica, City Center there is a paid parking and not so much sand. On the rest of beaches, it’s free parking, but since it’s a natural park you need to park on the sand. Traveling to Lisbon and in Lisbon:

Cacilhas Terminal You are just 200 meters away from the Cacilhas Terminal. Just need to walk down the street. At the Terminal you can: • Take the boat to Lisbon – Cais do Sodré (boats depart approximately every 20 minutes and take 7 minutes to cross de river). The boat will leave you at the city center at “Cais do Sodré”. There are boats from 5am to 1am following day.

Going to the Beach by Bus

If you are traveling: You have at a 30 minutes trip the Costa da Caparica beach, where many of the “Lisboetas” go to the beach. It’s bus number 135 – “Cacilhas – Costa da Caparica (Via Rápida)”. The bus leaves you at a terminal station 5 mnts walking to the beach. Once arriving to the beach you can stay at any of the available beaches. You also may walk on the beach side walk “Paredão”. Where you can also enjoy many of the restaurants and bars, with sea view.

Ticketing in Lisbon Public Transports - VivaCard

To use public transportation, you need to have a green travel card – “Viva Card”, which is reusable and can be used in all transportation modes (metro, bus, boat travel to Lisbon “Cacilheiro”). Maybe there are some left over at the apartment, if not you can buy them at the machines available at the Cacilhas Terminal. You can buy tickets specific for a transportation mode, but then you just can use that card for that transport, until you use all the tickets.
