Morden Colliery provincial park is a 10 minute walk from our Airbnb. Head up Eglington ave. Take a quick right onto Akenhead and anothe right at the 4 way stop. 450 m on your left you will find the tipple. The tipple is all that Remains of the Morden coal mine, which once thrived here the first sod was turned up at this mine in 1912 and in its first year of operation the mine produce 76,000 tons of coal. Although the area around the coal tipple is fenced off for public safety, there are many trails hiking cycling and wildlife viewing at this park. Dogs are on leash.

Follow the wandering road past Klein’s amazing nursery over the wooden bridge and down past some amazing farm lands. You will see the sign on your right hand side.

The local Forest Park popular with local residence there is approximately 11 km of easy walking trails that we threw the park along the Holden Lake in the marsh areas. The trails are forested primarily with mature coastal Douglasfir and large big maple leafs trails are not marked but are easily identifiable and are well-maintained please be aware you could encounter bear or cougar in the area and dogs must be on leash.
