Sightseeing

Iconic tourist spot and it's inspiring in any weather. 50 minutes drive away. Don't stop at Port Campbell - the other side leading over to Peterborough is probably my favourite part of the coast with London Bridge and the Bay of Martyrs, which is 5 minutes from Peterborough. You can swim safely and snorkel at Peterborough too.

Close to the Otway Fly the walk and views of the falls are wonderful. Wear non-slippery shoes in winter.

A very peaceful place to dip your toes in the water if it's hot, rock-hop around and explore. Just up our road a bit.

A great safe place to swim and to boogie board. Graze is a great restaurant which uses local food, and the Birdhouse on the main street is also a favourite for breakfast or lunch. Snorkelling at Marengo beach is lovely and there's a colony of seals out on the second island -a but far out to see but if you have binoculars...

Beautiful beach to walk, perilous to swim. At low tide you can explore the rock pools, and swim safely but ALWAYS watch out for the turning of the tide and face the waves. The rockpools are to the right from the first carpark; if you drive to the second carpark that's closer to the where the river meets the sea and for most tides, gives you a longer walk. You can't cross the river when the tide is high. There are rips in the sea and unless you are a very strong swimmer and good at picking where rips are, don't risk it - paddle instead! - and don't turn your back on the waves for long! There's a reason this is the shipwreck coast!! Coast fisherpeople also fish here.

Food scene

Schultz Dairy, 5 km from Timboon, have the best milk. In bottles. Their sustainability credentials are great. But they also have a beautiful garden where you can have lunch, or scones and tea, or cheese cake made with quark.... The Distillery in nearby Timboon is a lovely locally sourced food place for lunch; The cow and the foodstore also have a ice vibe.

Health - in all ways

The infinite variety on the Great Ocean Walk is beautiful. In May the fungi will amaze you, there are views of the cliffs to take in, grass trees to admire and hills to get your blood moving.
