The hills are beautiful and close by. Tolkien is supossed to have walked on the hills, coming up from Oxford on the train. If you walk up from the town, you will pass the lamp post and the tunnel of trees that may have sparked something in C.S. Lewis's imagination. He taught at Malvern public school for a time, before going on to write the Narnia books.
