Gateway to Costa Brava

Blanes is the gateway to Costa Brava. Technically speaking, Sa Palomera (the big rock you see on your right when you get to the beach from the apartment) is the first rock in the coastline that is called Costa Brava and spans north from Blanes all the way till the border with France. If you’re curious, “Brava” in Spanish and Catalan means strong, aggressive, difficult to tame, courageous, even dangerous. It was named Costa Brava first in 1908 by a Catalan writer, Ferran Agulló to describe 200 km of rugged and abrupt coastline.
