This walking trail is called the tribute trail to pay tribute to the indigenous Nisenan people who lived in the region. It’s beautiful and the suspension bridge over deer creek is a highlight of the town.

Hiking

Great walks
This river is probably one of the best spots in California. Massive granite boulders and deep swimming holes. If you venture too far (or far enough depending on your preferences) you will probably come across some skinny dippers.

This walk up a gravel road isn’t the most inspiring at first, but when you get to the top of the mountain you can sit on a bench and see all of downtown Nevada city. There’s only one or two parking spots off of coyote street near the trail and it looks like you’re walking into someone’s yard, but it’s public land.

Lake stuff. Rent a paddle board. Just go for a swim. It’s a reservoir so it’s not as pretty as Tahoe but it’s the best lake we have in town.

Another great river spot. Be a good person and don’t park in the no parking zones. This road is an escape route for wild fires and your aversion to walking could literally kill someone.
