The Memorial consist of a bronze plaque with a bas relief head and shoulders of Major General Stanislaw Sosabowski designed and cast by the famous sculpter, Vivian Mallock.
The Memorial is mounted on a piece of Portland stone, to stand in the Polish Square in Driel. A reminder of the admiration and gratitude which we hold fot Major General Sosabowski and for the Polish comrades-in-arm.

During the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944, the German high command ordered the evacuation of all civilians in Arnhem and the surrounding towns. The ‘From Hearth and Home – Airborne Memories’ exhibition at the Airborne Museum tells the sweeping story of these refugees and their experiences during the evacuation, the country’s liberation in May 1945 and the refugees’ final return home.
