There are a choice of four pubs in the village of Cannington with different offerings. The one for eating would be The Friendly Spirit just off the green as you drive through. https://m.facebook.com/friendlyspiritcannington/ The other pubs are : The Rose and Crown The Globe The King's Head There is also an Indian restaurant, Saffron, which offers eat-in or takeaway and is the only choice we have when it comes to food being delivered. We would need to be at home to accept your order on your behalf or you would need to wait by our front gate because they wouldn't be able to find Ramblers Roost! 😂 https://saffroncannington.co.uk/

A little village at the foot of the Quantocks with walks up the hills. The Plough Inn is off the main road. You can start or end your walk here. Good food, nice atmosphere and a new conservatory with freshly arranged beer garden. They are quite used to walkers and cyclists stopping by. https://www.holfordvillage.com/ploughinn.htm

Just to 20-30 minutes walk away is Stolford Beach next to Hinkley Point where there is a mixture of big rocks and sand with some rockpools. Always a quiet spot. Be careful as the tides in the Bristol Channel turn quickly and the water comes right to the sea wall each time. One walk you can take straight from the doorstep. There is also car parking should you want to drive. For other Somerset walks see the links below: https://roam.somerset.gov.uk/roam/map https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/brean-down/features/coastal-walks-in-somerset

Brean Down is a natural pier that stretches out into the Bristol Channel with Brean Down Fort being at the top end. From a lovely sandy beach there is a moderate circular route up to the fort at the top via the site of a Roman temple with lovely views along the way There is also the site of an iron age fort and a large WWII arrow that used to direct bombers to the practice range at the bottom of the hill. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/brean-down/features/welcome-to-brean-down

Nice walk across the cliff tops that can take you for miles along the coast. You can also walk a long way along the beach but you must watch the tide - it comes in much quicker than you think and has caught out many a visitor. You may be lucky enough to find a fossil. There is parking before the beach.
