Welcome to the Mandarin @ Main Place in the City of Orange! Mandarins originated in India before traveling across China where they picked up the name “mandarin”, representing a symbol of good luck. Since at least the Qing dynasty, Chinese parents would place mandarin oranges beside the pillows of their children, along with red envelopes containing money under the pillow to ward off folkloric monsters.
