Heritage Queen at Kinloch Wilderness Retreat

Your room is part of a historic lodge nestled lakeside in nature with fantastic views. Our stunning area has many activities to offer including various hikes, kayaking, horse treks, ziplining and more. To relax there are lounges and a hot tub, great for stargazing! If you don't feel like cooking up a feast take a break and dine in our cozy restaurant. Please note that we're a 5hr drive from Milford Sound. Not suitable for children under 10. Please look at our wilderness rooms if with children.

Family Cabins - 2 bedrooms

The Institute of Awesome is an eco-lodge overlooking the coast in 110 acres of bush on the foot of Karioi. Grab two bedrooms at the lodge. One for the adults (King bed or can be 2 singles), one for the kids (4 single beds) in the next room. Peace and quiet. 🛌💤 All the other facilities are shared at the lodge, clean hot showers, cooking facilities, huge fridges in the camp kitchen. We are not 5 star but the lodge is relaxed, rustic with a tonne of character, serenity and plenty of nature.

Arthur's Pass Ecolodge - unique off grid living

Only 10mins south of Arthur's Pass Village, on SH73, the Ecolodge overlooks the expansive Waimakariri River and mountains of the National Park. Experience "off grid" living at its best on a small environmental footprint. To stay costs $175 per night for bed and homemade breakfast (for 2 people). You have the option to book up to 4 people in your group, as I have two Queen rooms available. I'm more than happy to share a 2-course meal + wine/beer for $35 pp and spend time sharing stories.

The 2-bedroom unit has a Queen room & twin room plus bathroom & offers a clean & comfortable stay for an easy stopover or to spend a few nights. Facilities include tea & coffee, kettle, microwave, toaster and mini-fridge. The property is 20 minutes from Franz Josef & offers mountain views from your deck, centralized near a local café & grocer, petrol station, children's playground, and tour companies including the White Heron Sanctuary Tours with nature & adventure on the doorstep.

The Barn at Killin - French Room

The Barn at Killin is a family owned private property, set back off the shores of Lake Ohau, at the foot hills of the majestic Southern Alps in the heart of the Mackenzie country. Secluded on 25 acres, The Barn offers stunning mountain, high country & lake views & private access to Lake Middleton. The guest accommodation is on the second storey of the barn & offers four luxurious super king rooms with beautiful private ensuites, all newly built and decorated.

Poolburn Adventure Hub (Poolburn Suite)

Since the 1920s the Poolburn Hotel has been the meeting place of the Ida Valley. Nestled in the remote highlands of Central Otago, between Dunedin and the Lakes District, the valley is home to a close-knit farming community. No longer a pub, we now offer lodging and activities to adventurers from afar. Please send a message if you have any special requirements or dietary restrictions. We offer a private, secluded and safe bedroom with own ensuite and walk-in wardrobe in Albert Town, Wanaka. Minimum stay 2 nights. Access to our developing healthy garden and stunning outdoor areas. You'll love being away from the crowds, with both privacy and peace. Gluten-free cereals supplied with selection of teas, hot chocolate and coffee. Wander amongst the plants, watch the native birds, and brew up your own herbal tea if you wish to.

Located in the foot hills of the UNESCO World Heritage Tongariro National Park. National Park Village is the backdrop of the Tongariro volcanoes, our lodge contains a wide range accommodation. Plateau Lodge is the ideal stop for couples, families, and small tour/family groups wanting to explore Whakapapa Ski field, hike the Tongariro Crossing or shorter walks, multi-day tramps and bike trails.
