Although the original design was not for a living space, a returning adult child made the transformation into what it is today. We are delighted to share this area with visitors who want to enjoy the flexibility of seclusion on the 50 acre hobby farm and use this as a base camp to enjoy the surrounding sites. This is wine country for sure! Within 8 miles is the Glider Capital of the world as well as historic Corning.

Located in Upstate New York on the edge of our Botanical Garden in the Lower Hudson Valley the "Barnette" is for nature lovers. This newly built repurposed barn is perfect for relaxing, exploring nature, and getting away from it all. Nearby are lots of hiking, rail trails, and farms. We are within driving distance of the Mohonk Mountain House, Minnewaska, Catskill Mountains, and a 2 hour drive from Manhattan. For winter enthusiasts there’s places to snowshoe, ski, and hike 20-60 minutes away.

The house is built into a barn. It has rustic charm and modern comforts. It's situated in a beautiful valley with a lovely view. The back porch and yard are nice places for relaxing. There is a basketball hoop in driveway side. Dwelling is 7 miles from Ithaca , which is about a 15 minute drive. There is is no real public transportation, except for a bus that runs to Ithaca at 8am and 5pm on weekdays. To catch it, walk the half mile to the highway and flag it down. Welcome to the country.

The apartment combines original exposed beams with modern millwork and finishes. Heated and air-conditioned with geothermal units, it is open concept on two levels, with hickory floors, modern appliances, and a propane fireplace - an ideal starting place to enjoy the many delights of the region.

The house is an 1838 barn with old beams and rafters, and modern finishes of hemlock, red oak, and western red cedar throughout.
