Hawkhow Cottage, Glenridding

Hawkhow Cottage compromises four bedrooms and sleeps seven comfortably or eight cosily. Upstairs you will find three bedrooms (one King, one double and one twin) and a bathroom. Downstairs there is an additional bedroom (small double), a shower room and a traditional Aga-warmed kitchen. The glass and oak-framed extension provides a large living room with log burning stove and a galleried dining area. The property will be prepared ready for your arrival with freshly laundered bed linen and bath towels supplied for your stay. We have provided a selection of games, puzzles and toys to keep you entertained inside (and the optional use of a TV and Xbox One) as well as books, maps and guides to help you plan your activities outside. There is ample parking on-site. Guests also have shared use of the main house’s extensive gardens and grounds, including the sauna. Please note that the garden is steep with drop-offs in places, it has a number of steps and paths that can be extremely slippery, as well as running water courses, ponds and bridges. As well as having Ullswater on your doorstep for sailing, kayaking and wild swimming, there are a number of fabulous walks and bicycle rides that can be started from the cottage without ever needing to get into your car. Keen walkers can even start the climb to Helvellyn by walking up the garden to join recognised footpaths. Glenridding is a beautiful 15 minute walk along the Lake and provides a number of cafes, pubs and shops as well as access to the famous Ullswater Steamers. A slightly longer walk along the Lake in the opposite direction will take you past Glencoyne Bay, the inspiration for William Wordsworth’s ‘Daffodils’ poem, to the popular Aira Force waterfall and trails maintained by the National Trust.

Parking for three cars , EV charger , bike storage , gardens and a BBQ this is a great base to enjoy the magic of our Lakeland valley.

Shepherd’s Hut in Secluded Woodland

The Ewe was new to 2024 and is the perfect dog friendly Lake District getaway for couples. The Ewe is a bespoke luxury shepherds hut which comes with double opening front doors, underfloor heating, a king sized bed, fully fitted kitchen and an en-suite. This hut is a genuine all-year round getaway option. The Ewe is situated in a secluded woodland area with fantastic views of fells, fresh pastures and woodland which is packed with British wildlife, especially our famous red squirrels.

The hut is set in the middle of a family farm, forget about your busy lives and sit back and relax in this peaceful location ideal for a romantic retreat, with views up the Lorton valley ,cozy up into front of the wood burning stove and plan your adventure for the next day. The hut has no electricity but has solar lights, and a separate composting toilet, all bed linen is provide along with wood for the stove. A breakfast hamper will be delivered to your door in the morning

Welcome to Highside a delightful cottage set in a secluded location overlooking the tranquil village of Lorton. Dating back to 1695 (as engraved on the fireplace in the kitchen), the cottage retains many original features but has been sympathetically modernised. The cottage resides within our farm, Terrace Farm with open countryside and panoramic views of the Lakeland Fells and numerous Wainwrights including Melbreak, Whiteside, Low Fell, Hopegillhead to name but a few.

Switch off in quiet Bassenthwaite village in peaceful valley between lake & mighty Skiddaw mountain, 15 mins from popular market town Keswick - enjoy an open fire, Sun Inn pub 2 mins away (booking recommended), walks for all abilities (many from the door) & our runner ducks - if you want quieter lakes, villages & towns or the most popular locations, all accessible. 12 noon checkout on Sundays after 2 night weekends. The cottage is called Jemima Puddle Duck Cottage.

Wythop School, Lake District

Located in the Lake District National Park on the coast to coast cycle route, Wythop School sits on the side of Ling Fell with views towards Bassenthwaite Lake. The old village school has been renovated to provide comfortable accommodation for up to 10 guests. The village has a pub and hotel offering good food and real ale. All other amenities (supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants, museums etc) can be found in Cockermouth, a 4 mile drive away.
